Residents and history buffs are invited to lace up their sneakers and take part in a walking tour of Old Town Temecula.

Led by historical docent Dale Garcia, the event offers a compelling look at Temecula’s long and interesting history.

For example, did you know that Temecula did not have a traffic light until the mid-1980s? Or that Temecula business owner Joe Winkels entertained legends Jack Dempsey, Jack Sharkey and Fatty Arbuckle at the Ramona Inn?

Residents will hear colorful stories from the past about Temecula’s first bank and its daring bank robbery, the city’s most famous author and stories of some of the more intriguing local characters to settle in these parts.

The tour will kick off at 10 a.m. on March 23 from the Temecula Valley Museum located in Sam Hicks Monument Park at 28314 Mercedes St. in Temecula.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

There is a $2 fee.
