Glaring sunlight is thought to be the reason why a driver ran down two women who were walking on Pauba Road in Temecula, it has been reported.
According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s press release, officers responded to the scene just before 6 p.m., Monday March 11 at Pauba and Elinda Roads.
Initial investigations revealed the driver of a Toyota Matrix was traveling westbound on Pauba Road as the sun was setting and drifted into the bicycle lane where two women were out for a stroll.
“One of the pedestrians was thrown a substantial distance after impact with the vehicle and sustained major injuries,” Sgt Jon Wade stated.
The injured women were taken to a nearby hospital.
Anyone with further details regarding this incident is urged to contact the Temecula Police Department at 951-696-3000.

If the setting sun could completely blind someone, visor or sunglasses dont work, to the extent of not seeing two women walking in a bike lane It would make sense to pull over until you could see? Right?
I have pulled over and waited out heavy rain, fog until I could see far enough in front of me, AND I would also creep along as visibility got better.
This running into two women and sending them flying is completely unexceptable.
oh I cant see, oh what’s the worst that can happen, once again the lack of common sense is over looked and the sun is blamed, because who would be expecting the sun how often is the sun around…….SSA
