A homicide investigation was under today in Oceanside, where two juveniles were fatally shot and two others wounded in a city park, police said.

Officers received multiple 911 calls about gunfire at Libby Lake Park on Redondo Drive around 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to Oceanside police Lt. Aaron Doyle.

Once there, officers found four juveniles with gunshot wounds, he said in a statement.

Two of the four died at the scene and the others were taken by ambulance to local trauma centers, Doyle said.

Police withheld the identities of the victim, pending family notification.

According to U-T San Diego, the victims were three males and one female found near the site of a memorial for two teens who had been shot to death in 2011 in a gang-related attack.

The motive for Wednesday night’s deadly gunfire was under investigation.

Witnesses described seeing males wearing dark clothing fleeing the area in a gray or silver 2005 or 2006 Toyota Tacoma or Toyota Tundra extended cab-style pickup, Doyle said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Oceanside police Detective Mark LaVake at (760) 435-4872.
