San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies received a call at 5 a.m. about the fleeing suspect and joined Chino Police officers in the pursuit that reached speeds of up to 90 mph through surface streets in Chino Hills and on three freeways.

The suspect crashed into several vehicles, including a sheriff’s patrol car during the chase, authorities said.

The chase ended in Riverside in an unspecified area of southbound Interstate 15, where the fugitive’s car broke down on the west side of the freeway behind a business.

A short foot chase followed but the suspect, at some point, entered a big rig in motion and tried assaulting authorities in a failed try to evade capture, according to sheriff’s officials.

The suspect was shot and pronounced dead at the scene in the 4200 block of Hamner Avenue. The suspect’s name was not released pending notification of kin.

The number of times officers and deputies opened fire was not disclosed, nor did sheriff’s authorities specify for what the suspect was wanted.
