The solo pilot of a small airplane made a hard landing today north of Lake Mathews but no one was hurt, a fire spokeswoman said.

Firefighters received a call at 3:30 p.m. and went to the area of El Sobrante Road and Vista Del Lago, where the airplane landed, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.
The make of the airplane was not disclosed but Hagemann said it was not damaged and that the National Transportation Safety Board was investigating the incident.
