Adam Edward Trainor had been driving southbound on Monterey Avenue when he fell asleep behind the wheel of his dark blue Chrysler Sebring and drove over the raised center median toward oncoming traffic, according to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report.

His vehicle then stopped in front of The College of the Desert where police later found him, Sgt. Radek Horkel said.

Police took Trainor to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after responding to the scene, where it was later determined that alcohol played a role in the collision, according to Horkel.

Trainor was booked at the county jail in the city of Indio.

This investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Palm Desert Police Department at 760-836-1600 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP.
