Palm Desert: Car bursts into flames after crash, man dies

A man died in fiery crash in Palm Desert this afternoon, a county fire department spokeswoman said.

The two-vehicle collision was reported about 1:30 p.m. at Highway 74 and Shadow Mountain Way.

The man died at the scene, and an occupant of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
