Riverside County Spelling Bee kicks off March 20

The 36th Annual Riverside County Spelling Bee will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center, 14075 Frederick St., Moreno Valley.

The competition starts at 9 a.m.

The event is co-sponsored by The Press-Enterprise newspaper and the Riverside County Office of Education.

This year, 27 spellers will be participating from Riverside County public, private and parochial schools. (See attached list).

The winning student will represent Riverside County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held May 26-June 1 at Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Maryland. The top two elementary (grades 4-6) spellers will represent Riverside County at the California State Elementary Spelling Bee to be held April 20 at the San Joaquin County Office of Education in Stockton.
