The afternoon traffic rush was made worse by a three car pile-up on Clinton Keith Road in Murrieta, it has been reported.
According to Murrieta Fire Department officials, a black GMC Suburban, an orange Nissan Mini-van and a Honda Odyssey van were involved in a chain reaction collision just after 3 p.m.
Out of the several people involved in the crash, one adult and four children were taken by ambulance to Inland Valley Hospital and Rancho Springs Medical Center.
All injuries were described as minor to moderate.
Westbound lanes on Clinton Keith were closed while crews mopped up the scene, SWRNN reporter Joe Fanaselle said.
He added traffic was being diverted onto Toulon Drive.
Traffic in both directions slowed to a crawl as emergency crews worked to clear up the accident debris.
“They expect lanes to re-open sometime around 4 p.m.,” Fanaselle said.
