Jarka trial: Murrieta man sentenced to life in prison without parole for murder of wife
Kelle Lee Jarka, 41 at the time of his trial, showed no reaction as Judge Timothy Freer confirmed the sentence indicated by Jarka's conviction for first-degree murder.

Kelle Lee Jarka
A Murrieta man convicted of murdering his longtime wife and making the killing look like it was done by an intruder will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole, a judge ruled Friday.
Kelle Lee Jarka, 41 at the time of his trial, showed no reaction as Judge Timothy Freer confirmed the sentence indicated by Jarka’s conviction for first-degree murder. A jury deliberated about two hours in September before deciding Jarka murdered his wife, Isabelle, and that the killing was for financial gain, a finding that made him ineligible for parole.
Jarka showed no reaction as Judge Freer sentenced him to the maximum penalty. He called Jarka “evil” and said the evidence was overwhelming.
The sentence followed statements from Jarka’s brother-in-law and those of Isabelle’s family. Jarka continued to deny his guilt and told the judge he misses his wife.
He told the judge that one day he will be exonerated.
Prosecutors successfully argued Jarka, who was having financial problems, wanted to collect $1.3 million in life insurance on a policy he had taken out on his wife of nearly 20 years. The prosecutor described Jarka as a man so enamored with his upper-middle-class lifestyle and position within his congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, that he was willing to sacrifice the life of his loving wife to maintain it.
Defense attorney Erin Kirkpatrick told jurors Kelle Jarka was a peaceful man and a loving husband who did not kill his wife. Kirkpatrick said the Jarka’s finances were unstable, but their fiscal picture was not dire. Despite the best efforts of Murrieta police, she said, there was no physical evidence linking her client to Isabelle’s brutal death.
Isabelle Jarka suffered almost a dozen blows to her head with a blunt object resulting in a fracture to her skull and injuries to her brain, Dr. Joseph Cohen testified.
Hear statements from Jarka and the judge later to come on SWRNN.

[["During the trial, prosecutor Burke Strunsky described Jarka as a man so enamored with his upper-middle-class lifestyle and position within his congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, that he was willing to sacrifice the life of his loving wife to maintain it."]]
There is a lot of indebtedness in the Jehovah’s Witnesses *family* because the Watchtower is apocalyptic and JW members live for the “end of this system” to save them from debt so many have poor financial planning.
Please let this be a lesson for all.
Comment by: Anne Principle Posted: November 6, 2009, 12:51 pm
Regarding the comment by Laura Hanson… “Poor financial planning”? And only Jehovah’s Witnesses have members who struggle financially? And if poor financial planning is the culprit, then why aren’t all Jehovah’s Witnesses who are having difficulty in this economy going around killing their spouses for their life insurance? The horrendous event of this man taking his wife’s life has nothing to do with his religion, and EVERYTHING to do with his character, or lack of it. A wolf in sheep’s clothing!

truly amazing ..first post out of the gate and it is some angry person putting a negative spin on Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Jehovah’s Witnesses clearly believe as the bible instructs.. husbands should love their wives as themselves. and should treat them as Christ does the congregation.
This subject individual obviously had no respect for himself or god’s instructions.
A narcissist as best and only out to enrich himself… this conduct in itself removes him from values of what the bible teaches and Jehovah’s Witnesses believe.
As for our JW hate monger poster that only wishes to detract by unfounded comments… nothing but a dog returning to its own vomit

Jehovah’s witnesses are basically a set of hypocrites whose members are sick and tired of waiting for the end of the world which isn’t coming because Jehovah doesn’t exist. We know this because too many pedophile elders have been appointed by Jehovah, so he cannot exist or he’s wicked.

Hey, what if he didn’t do it? And if he didn’t will the JW knockers reapear out of the wood work and apologize for using his religion to spread their bitter gossip.

The first comment really hightlights this worlds lack of heart. A woman is dead, brutally murdered by someone that should have loved and cherished her; instead of expressing condolences to her family, rejoicing that a measure of justice has been done, commenting on how women are so sadly victims in this society or any other number of observations, her death is used at a platform to spreak inaccurate lies and misinformation about a group that clearly do not encourage murder or violence in any way. More hate posts will be found below but before they all clamber onto the back of this poor dead woman to promite their agenda, may I say…
May God give this woman’s family peace until he brings the victim back to his loving care in Paradise.

Had a neighbour totally brainwashed by the cult, while vulnerable after a divorce.
It is a totally evil moment that brainwashes the vulnerable to collect money, and should certainly be banned everywhere from bothering people by knocking on their doors in twos, groups, sometimes with small tired children, never alone (you might persuade them back to normal).
And they know little of the bible they claim to quote – easy to catch them out, but a waste of time.

Watchtower corporation manipulative tactics:

JW are the Scientology of Bible based cults, really it is shocking how psychopathic they are.Jesus said that his true followers would be the “salt of the earth” instead the JW behave like the scum of the earth.

Jehovah’s witnesses say but they don’t perform. They go around telling others how to live their lives, yet on the inside they themselves are some of the nastiest people you could ever meet and the elders are the WORST! Total hypocrites, Jesus Christ would condemn them as Scribes and Pharisees. They secretly joined UN, avoid paying taxes in some countries, by their own standards the top dogs should be disfellowshipped. Dont have anything to do with them. They are a CULT.

Kelle L. Jarka, a leader in Jehovah’s Witnesses religion, was arrested by police investigators; tried by Attorney General, and found guilty by a jury of 12 decent men and women for the shocking crime of murdering his wife by literally beating her brains out.
Those are the facts. But did you notice that of the many comments posted by Jehovah’s Witnesses here none of them expressed outrage at this vicious crime? Not one! They were busy defending the Watchtower Corporation, the organization that they believe is the only religion God speaks to as His “channel of communication”. The fact that “Brother” Jarka was appointed by that so-called “spirit-directed Organization” as a “fine example” to the congregation, and in his position he served on ecclesiastical tribunals judging others sins and actually excommunicating members.
It is left to the ones these oh-so-loving Witnesses call “evil”; “worldly”, and “dogs” to be sensitive to the shocking brutality of this crime–and the situation that placed such a man in a leadership position.
Can loyal Jehovah’s Witnesses really think that a man harboring such seething hatred as Jarka acted out on his own wife, would be able to offer sound judgment and counsel to those who turned to him for help with their husband-wife troubles? Did Jehovah God REALLY appoint such a man? Didn’t the holy spirit realize that he was exactly what Paul warned Timothy against when appointing elders?
Who among you will ask why it is that outsiders are more concerned about these things than Jehovah’s Witnesses whose own lives can be affected by a system that perpetuates th kind of thinking that says ‘if he’s one of us, he’s got to be right’?
BTW, In debate the name-calling that Jehovah’s Witnesses have engaged in here, is considered a sign that one has lost the argument. It is only when one cannot prove his point, that he resorts to such a low tactic. It is hardly what one would expect of an individual of integrity.
Comment by: Watchdog Posted: November 8, 2009, 10:13 am
Truth Seeker,
The vicious crime speaks for itself. Our sister is dead murdered by a man who claimed to be a true servant of God. He infact was a phony who was greedy and wanted something he didn’t deserve financially and he wanted it so badly he was willing to say anything and do anything in order to get it. You are much like that lying, diceiving murderer. You want what you do not deserve. You bash an entire group of people that only want to do what is right according the the scriptures. Jarka was appointed because he was at one time doing what was right and he fit the criteria for an elder in the congregation as set out by the Holy Scriptures. Unlike you and the rest of the apostate crowd, Jehovah’s Witnesses try to find the good in people and can only judge by what they see. You have the audacity and presumption to poke fun at God. I can’t even imagine the arrogance that a person would have to have to do that! God will deal with Jarka in the same manner he will deal with you and the rest of the haters of God and Truth and with God making the judgement I am confident that it will be fair and true and just. No errors will be made by God. You have the same chance as Jarka to turn around and repent from your sick and twisted reasoning. I hope you get the help you need. Chris Lickley, Jason Paterson,Teri, EXJW….all of you are treading on thin ice and your lives are full of hurt and pain and hatefulness. This system is heading down the drain. Jarka and all of you are heading to the same place as you all have decided to serve yourself instead of the True God. I am sad for our sister that was brutally killed, but she will have life again. If you all don’t clean up your act and get back on the right course there will be no hope for you…..That will be truly sad as your death’s are totally preventable. Please turn around before it is too late.
Comment by: John Scott Posted: November 8, 2009, 12:52 pm
Jehovah’s Witnesses who unrepentantly violate the commandments of the Bible, such as here, a vicious murder of one’s own wife, are not allowed to continue as part of the congregation. If this is true, and if there is an attempt at coverup, not knowing all the facts of the case, then it certainly would be an outrageous crime, for which someone would deserve to live one’s life in prison. The Bible says to be on your guard, that the devil is “a roaring lion seeking to devour someone”. In the Bible there were many who were once loyal to God, who later turned sour, such as King Saul, Judas, and Manasseh, who became a vicious murderer, but whom the Bible says, later repented in prison. So we leave judgement, rightfully, in God’s hands, for an individual who commits any sort of crime. So, yes, if this man is in fact a Jehovah’s Witness, or was, and if he in fact committed this crime, it is a horrible crime, and we, as Jehovah’s Witnesses do not approve of even hating or hitting one’s wife, we are taught by the Bible and by the organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses, to “love our wives as our own bodies.” For those who disrespect this counsel from the Bible, then they can lose their freedom and spend their life in jail. Some do repent in jail from crimes they have committed, and we hope this person does as well.

Don’t knock on my door to pitch your cult to my family!

I don’t see anyone posting here who is not DEEPLY hurt for Isabelle Jarka and her family. What has been done to them by a wolf in sheep’s clothing is just unspeakably evil and tragic.
However, when an entire group (Jehovah’s Witnesses) is vilified by people who are using this situation to further their own agenda of spreading their hate against Jehovah’s Witnesses (their spiteful and vicious comments identify them clearly), then it is entirely right for lovers of truth to speak up in defense of their faith.
That does not take away from the awfulness of what Mr. Jarka did, or the pain his family and friends is suffering now.
And if you don’t want Jehovah’s Witnesses at your door, that’s certainly your choice. Ask them not to call again.

This is obvious a very sad event and woman’s life cut short by her own husband. How brutal. This guy could have very well been christian, muslim, hindu or jewish. This really does not make a difference he commited a heinous crime and should be punished for it. Now, there is one issue, which in the real world does not make a difference to any one, but in the Jehovah’s Witness world it does, and that is the fact that he is a JW and this bring great dishonor and disdain to Jehovah’s name something which is taboo in there. So call it what you will, but it is what it is and these poor souls are under tremendous stress and pressure to perform in that religiouse organization. They need to keep up and cannot fall by the way side and be subjected to ” OH looks like brother so and so is getting a little cold spiritually” well you get the picture. Just pray for them they are God’s children too!!!
Comment by: Eathan Posted: November 20, 2009, 7:36 pm
There are plenty of interesting comments. As much as this is a brutal crime and there is a murdered woman with children left behind, there are problems with what is being said by other bloggers/commentors.
1. Are there several people from Freeminds leaving comments or is it the same person?
2. There are plenty of people that are convicted of a crime and then have their convictions overturned aka the innocence project. I’m in Dallas and Texas has the highest rate of convictions overturned.
3. Does a person’s religious affiliation directly reflect against their belief in their personal life?. Or better yet, does a person’s company affiliation directly reflect against the company when they commit a crime away from work? There are plenty of Catholic Diocese that are paying millions and millions of dollars for molestation charges.
4. Why aren’t any of you complaining to the local tv or cable stations that are broadcasting religious programming? Is that similar to knocking on electronic doors?
It appears that much of the comments are from people just looking to b*tch and moan. The only people in this situation that has a right to b*tch are the victim’s family and the children affect.
All of this is coming from a non-J. Witness person. (me)

Jehovah’s Witnesses clergy elder Jarka is Guilty!
Comment by: Pam Posted: November 21, 2009, 7:47 pm
What does his belief have to do with what is in the man’s heart. I wonder if the comments would be the same if he were Cathloic or another faith? Just how many JW’s do you hear about in the news? But its ok for a Priest to moleste a child and cover it up..or a man with 6 wifes and 35 children living on welfare, that we pay for. No matter what his faith was he is a man that took another persons life and should pay for it, no matter what god he believes in.
Comment by: Casper Posted: November 22, 2009, 7:40 am
My thoughts and prayers are with all those effected by this tragedy including the murderer himself, whether that may or may not be Jarka. Those who have broke God’s law will be judged by God in the long run.
As a former Jehovah Witness, and am glad I left, I do understand completlely the remarks posted by many on here, whether I agree with them or not. The biterness, pain, and hurt caused by the Watchtower society is the TRUTH and you can not blame those who lash out against it. These people are not just fighting to defend their believes they are fighting to regain their lives that the Society in many cases so brutally stripped them of figurativley.
I was molested as a Jehovah Witness child by an elder, begged to Jehovah under the guise of the Watchtower Society endlessly for salvation, and devoted my life through baptism at the tender age of tweleve. Thinking it was best to speak to my mother, a devoted Witness, because I no longer could handle the pain I finally revealed what was happening. The congreation and elders attacked me, went to my school, talked to my neighbours and dug up any and everything they could to make it look like I had committed a disfellowshipping offence. I was disfellowshipped shortly after my 13th birthsay. I immediately lost my friends, could no longer participate in family functions ( as they were all Witness related) and was left alone in my room to deal with this. The elder that did this quickly sold everything and moved out of the country where the law of our country could not prosecute him and remained a Jehovah Witness elder there.
My parents and two of my siblings are still Jehovah Witnesses, I love them deeply. It has taken years, I am now thrity eight, to rebuild these relationships and my life. They stay, I believe, because they no longer know how to survive outside the JW relm.
So those Witnesses on here, take the time to understand where most of the resentment comes from before you throw us in the “lake of fire”, many of you like my parents are good people but trust me the “holy spirit” does not flow throughout your organization. What is really sad if you took the time to look my story is not rare in fact there are thousands of us. I urge you just once check out an Ex-Jehovah Witness support group in your area, there are many of them, and listen and see the pain many suffer losing a mother, father, bother, sister who lives a couple blocks away but remains a steadfast Witness and show a little more compassion for the suffering your organization has directly caused. Bad enough you lose a “sister” in death, try losing one knowing they are alive and well just down the street.

Update:
Despite all of this bickering the eighty year generation still hasn’t seen Jesus and the watchtower has declared them now dead. Thank goodness for watchtower prophesy. Otherwise how else would we have known the truth behind which religion was false?
Comment by: Love4Jehovah Posted: November 22, 2009, 10:02 pm
This is a horrible, horrible crime. I really feel bad for our dear sister but look forward to seeing her in the new system. I have nothing to say regarding her husband but will leave that for Jehovah to handle.
For those who hate us, why are you judging us (Jehovah’s Witnesses)? Is is because we speak the truth? True, nobody is perfect in this world, we all fall short even the elders. Nobody is infallible as the bible teaches us. For those who have done vile things in the organization well that was that individual not the organization. Those who are hiding what they are doing it will be brought to the front but don’t hate the religion.
We have many examples of people who have fallen short IN THE BIBLE. We also have many examples of people who ridiculed people and were apostate IN THE BIBLE. Please speak the facts, don’t hate because we are trying to do what’s right and you want to do your own thing. I only pray that we all will get our lives together while Jehovah is patient enough to allow us to change before it’s to late. And noticed I said we because we ALL fall short of the Glory of Jehovah but must keep on so that we will be able to see our dead loved ones again alive including Sister Jarka.
It’s beautiful, one that teaches unity and peace. When you spew this hatred for us are you teaching unity and peace and if not then what is your real motive?
If you don’t like us keep it to yourself but stop trying to steer people away from life on a peaceful new world that is soon to come just because you opted out of it. We teach straight out of the bible which has been around alot longer the any of us on this post. Jehovah knows what he is doing which is giving all of us time to change and become better not bitter.
Jehovah’s organization is perfect because he’s ruling it from heaven through Jesus Christ but the people in his earthly organization are not perfect.

What does being a Jehovah Witness have to do with the brutal crime he committed? He killed his wife, probably because he wanted her out of his life.
Comment by: liz Posted: December 11, 2009, 10:51 am
I read all this comment against the JWs but we are all human even elders and yes they are appointed by Jehovah but they are not perfect they are trying to do what is right we are all born with imperfection and they to fall short, Jesus prayed before choosing his apostles and yet Judah betrayed him and Jesus was killed, Did this mean that Jesus was not the Messiah, Gods son? that what he preached was not the truth? NO, it just means that Jehovah has given us free will and even thou at times we may have done what is right doesn’t mean we can’t fall if you read the bible their are lots of examples of servants of Jehovah that disobeyed, David was one of them he had Uriah husband of Bathsheba put in front of the battle so he would be killed so he could keep his wife and yet if you read the bible God forgave him, don’t miss understand me in no way am I defending Mr. Jarka if he did do this horrible crime he is accountable and he is paying for it in jail and he as a person who knows Jehovah will also be accountable to him, but that is for God to judge not us, as for sister Jarka she will live again what God has promise he will do. As JWs we are not perfect but the teachings are and are proven with the bible. As for Casper I feel for you what you say you went thru is horrible and I can understand your pain but blaming the organization for it is wrong first of all your mom should have taken the matter to the police as a mother I would never let anything happen to my kids and I take everything they say serious as for what you comment about the elders going to your school and to your neighbors to dig up things that doesn’t make sence they are not detectives besides you can’t blame a whole group for what a few do and where was your mother in all this? you say she is still a JW that is probably because she knows that Jehovah is not at fault or his organization. I grew up a JW kid I stopped going at 12 studied on and of but always asked what do others believe I would ask my mom and she said ask them but have them prove their believes to you with the bible and I did I asked all kinds of religions but none could prove to me with the bible most have been members of their church for years and yet couldn’t answer they kept saying ( don’t know have to go to the pastor) but yet the bible says in (John 17:3 This means everlasting life their taking in knowledge of you the only true God and of the one you sent forth, Jesus Christ.) and (Proverbs 2:4 says if you keep seeking for it as for silver, and as for hid treasures you keep searching for it) these are just two of thousands of bible text that we can go over, so our salvation is not up to a pastor or the elders but it’s up to us to take in that knowledge and search for it in the bible, we are all accountable for ourselves we need to investigate the bible and see if the religion we are following is true all this bashing and stories about elders and other JWs don’t prove anything about the teachings it just shows that we are imperfect just like lots where in bible times. I always considered myself as open minded, I had so many questions and only Jehovah’s organization answered them with prove not with (you have to have faith) as the other religions would tell me, Faith is something you acquire with prove and not like some comment by being brain washed this is not a cult if it was I would have never stopped going at twelve, I am now over forty I have kids that are adults some don’t go to meetings and they are not treaded bad on the contrary when they do accompany me to the meeting they are received with love my kids say that they know it’s the truth and not because they grew up in it because I didn’t go for years but because they read for themselves but we all have free will and if we choose to serve Jehovah its out of love he forces no one we all have free will and that’s why I as one of Jehovahs witneses choose to serve him because I have free will and that ables me to choose to read for myself bible truths. It saddens me to see so many negative comments but yet none with scriptural prove I pray that one day you take the time to search for the truth like you would for silver witch is real deep and then you to will see what Jehovah has promised thru his son Jesus Christ.

This is a typical Jehovah’s Witness response when accounts of crimes like domestic violence and pedophilia are coming out before the public. The writer must not like seeing his or her belief system shattered when these reports are coming forth. Jehovah’s Witnesses make the claim that through their Bible educational programs families and marriages are strengthened. I like to see the evidence in all of this.
It is NOT JUST A CHARACTER ISSUE; IT IS WHAT A PERSON BELIEVES AND THE MANIFESTATIONS PRESENTED in cases like this. JWs who are victims of domestic violence must now be willing to stand up to your abuser and take steps to leave the environment before one finds herself in the newspaper under the obituaries.

Casper, you asked that you had only wish a JW would have listened when you were molested. For your sake and your life, I wish someone would have listened to you as well, it must have been extremely hard for you especially at the tender age of 13 to be ignored by your family and have to faced things alone. i was molested too, but not by a witness. i was very young and at an older age, when i was 36 a witness came to my door to talk to me and i was going thru an difficult time because of my past. anyway, long story short she listened to me a long time and helped me a lot long before we began to study. this was in 1985, and i asked questions because i wanted to know the truth. she showed me from the bible where to find my answers, not from her. JW have the truth and if Mr Jarka is guilty and chose to go against its principle of not taking a life it does not matter what is said here in this forum, Jehovah will judge him as he will judge all of us, witness and nonwitnesses, when the time comes. It will mean our lives so i hope that you will consider forgiving whatever it takes to gain your life. Time is short. I am in a very loving congregtion of people and maybe that is why your mother stays because of the love she receives from Jehovah and His congregation.
