Elsinore Women’s Club to host juried art show, entries being accepted
“The art show has been around from the start,” Papin said. “The women in the club wanted to bring culture and art into the valley back then and we’ve kept that going. This is one of our events so many look forward to.”

A tradition that dates back for more than a century now is making its way back into Lake Elsinore this weekend when The Elsinore Women’s Club hosts their annual juried art show.
This year’s art show theme, Art from the Heart, is open to entrants ages 18 and older wanting to showcase sculptures, paintings and all other media. Entries for the show must be ready for hanging and will be accepted from 2 to 6 p.m. March 12 at the women’s club, 710 W. Graham Ave in Lake Elsinore.
There is a $3.00 per piece entry fee or $4 entry fee for 10 pieces. Seniors 60 and older can submit entries for a $2 fee per piece with no media limit.
Established in 1906, the club promotes women’s education and provides educational opportunities and service to the club and to the community.
Club Parliamentarian Dottie Papin said the art show is one of the many traditions the club has held religiously held on to.
“The art show has been around from the start,” Papin said. “The women in the club wanted to bring culture and art into the valley back then and we’ve kept that going. This is one of our events so many look forward to.”
Papin said the club usually receives about 150 entries each year for the art show, with many entries coming from new participants.
“There have been a lot of new faces and that shows that this is truly a community event,” she said.
Public viewing of the pieces is available at 11 a.m. March 12. The artist awards and reception runs from 1 to 4 p.m.
Admission to the art show is free.
