A Moreno Valley man suspected of forcibly taking a woman from her residence, stabbing her and sexually assaulting her was charged today with attempted murder, rape and other felonies.

Howard Dupree Grissom, 24, is accused of abducting a woman from her apartment Tuesday and attacking her in an alley, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Grissom has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, kidnapping, rape, sexual penetration with a foreign object and robbery.

Police were called to the Thrifty gas station located in the 22900 block of Alessandro Boulevard about 3:10 a.m. Tuesday concerning a possible sexual assault when they contacted a woman who told investigators she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted. The woman was taken to a local hospital.
