A Murrieta jury spent Thursday afternoon and most of today deliberating before finding Joseph Edward Buter, 41, guilty of first-degree murder and a sentence-enhancing allegation of using a deadly weapon.

A collision involving a motorcycle on twisting Route 74 left at least one person dead, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash occurred at about 1:30 p.m. today just east of the Pinyon Pines fire station. The crash left the Pines to Palms Highway partly blocked between Anza and the Coachella Valley.
