The high surf this week forced the closure of two Orange County beaches today.
Capistrano Beach’s parking lot at 35005 Beach Road in Dana Point was closed because the high surf damaged a wooden boardwalk and some steps, Orange County Parks spokeswoman Marisa O’Neil said.
“Today the surges are coming up higher again so the staff decided to close the beach completely,” O’Neil said. “There’s a fair amount of debris being washed up.”
Aliso Beach at 31131 S. Pacific Coast Highway in Laguna Beach was closed Thursday afternoon due to debris brought in by the crashing surf and it was kept closed today, O’Neil said.
The two beaches could remain closed through the Labor Day weekend, O’Neil said.
