A Moreno Valley High School teacher has been arrested for having sex with a student, officials reported.

Another student told the School Resource Officer that the teacher, 38-year-old David Brohamer, and a current student were engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship.

Detectives launched into an investigation and identified a former student as a potential victim of sexual assault. They also gathered several statements and confirmed a sexual relationship had occurred between the victim and Brohamer, a Riverside County Sheriff’s report stated.
The relationship began with the victim was 17-years-old and continued for several months.
Brohamer was detained and arrested on May 31 and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges of unlawful sex with a minor.
Brohamer has been teaching at Moreno Valley High School for six years. He was the boy’s and girl’s golf coach and AVID instructor.
Investigators believe that current or former students may be able to provide additional details regarding this investigation, Sgt. Kaas stated.

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover. As I understand it, the relationship was Consensual.It still doesn’t make it right, as the girl was still a minor, and he knows that and is remorseful.

This is truly a shame. Why can’t kids just go to school to learn and teachers just teach!?! It seems like I hear about things like this every week. But, who knows this may have never happened and the student or so called ‘victim’ could just be saying this. You know the cops will most always believe a student any day over the teacher.
I would like to let you know that he did in fact have a relationship with the minor. It was Consensual but still does not make it right. he is very remorseful of his actions and is cooperating with every aspect of the law
I don’t see why there’s people talking shit about him but they dont see how it’s not just his fault but the student as well!!!! The police reports didn’t say it was rape so stfu!! and this supposly was so long ago why barely speak of it now? People are so pathetic now a days. It’s the law. He is the adult and should have better control and make smarter choices. It’s a matter of trust.
She also, along with all students her age need to be better educated as to how this would affect him or any adult with this type of relationship. It has very serious consequences. At 17 you need to know what’s right and wrong as well.
I would like everyone to know that this man is a family member of mine, and my family and I are so very disappointed by his actions. I would like to add that he probably won’t be “put away forever”, however this will still have severe consequences as he will have to register as a sex offender as well as the damage it has done to his wife and family. But I do ask that you not judge a book (or story) by it’s cover either. As far as I understand it was still consensual no matter the age difference, and I know personally that he is suffering more than you think. He did not try to lie to officers about the incident like most people would do and is cooperating fully.
Mr. brohammer is/was my 6th period teacher. He was a really cool teacher. I feel bad for him to be honest. He was going through a lot this passed second semester. I understand he did something wrong but you can’t just put full blame on him. The student/victim is responsible for this crime as well as brohammer. There was only one thing my class mates and I realized about him, that he was mostly nice to the females than the males. Other than that it was the only thing.

When this man signed on as a teacher he signed away his right to have sex with his students. What part of that do you not get people?? I don’t care who this student is, how she acts, what she said because until she is 18, it is not consensual sex and if this teacher doesn’t get that then just maybe he should not have hired on as a teacher. It’s pretty black and white.
He was my teacher for 3 years and he was a verry good man one of the most understanding and best teacher I ever had and it takes 2 to tango I don’t think he would be the one to start anything with a student in a inappropriate manner I was alown with him a lot and he never tryed any thing we were super close no mater what he will always be my fave teacher and I stand behind him 100%

Adult made adult choice. The child is not at fault. The ADULT made ADULT choices and will now have to deal with the ADULT consequences. It’s a cut and dry case. Yes he might have made bad choices on interracting with this girl (when in fact he was only trying to help out with school work)not physically like many assume, but why assume she did no wrong? He one told myself and another that having sex with a student was not worth losing his job.
