As Temecula wine country continues to grow, Tom Plant, an internationally recognized wine writer and local business man, is committed to providing his clients with an intimate wine country experience.
His WINEomous Wine Tours accommodates two to seven people and aims to offer clients a “back stage pass” to Temecula wine country.
“I spend an average of three days per week in Temecula wine country, connecting with winemakers and winery owners,” said Plant. “These folks have become my friends and if they are on the property they will come spend time with me and my guests.”
Tour guests are thrilled at the opportunity to interact with key personnel who may not be readily accessible to the general public. On occasion, guests will be invited to taste from a tank or barrel of wine that has yet to be released – something that many wine aficionados only dream of.
“Tom is very knowledgeable about the valley,” said client Gina of Laguna Beach. “He knows which wineries have the best wine and nicest owners. He took us to smaller wineries . . . the ma and pa places that the mainstream doesn’t normally know about, and it was awesome.”
Plant customizes each tour based on his clients’ preferences in wine or style of winery.
“I will take my tours to any venue they wish, but most of them trust me to select wineries based on my experience,” said Plant. “I am pleased that my guests are rarely, if ever, disappointed.”
The winemakers and owners appreciate WINEormous as well.
“Tom is a local with experience in other wine regions but stays true in is belief and support of Temecula Valley wines and wineries,” said Nicholas Palumbo of Palumbo Family Vineyards & Winery. “He has always been supportive of our winery and all this after tasting some of the best wines offered anywhere.”
Plant’s palate is experienced indeed. A world traveler and respected wine writer, he was invited to speak at the 4th Annual International Wine Tourism Conference in Perugia, Italy in 2012 and is anticipated to speak at the 2013 Conference in Croatia.
“I think my travels serve me well in that I understand wines from all regions,” said Plant. “But my first love is sharing Temecula wine country in the way it was meant to be enjoyed – as an insider with intimate knowledge of the wines, winemakers and owners of these amazing properties.”
