Two motorists were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving during an overnight driver’s license/sobriety checkpoint in Lake Elsinore, a police sergeant said today.
Jay Marie Jacobs, 43, and Michael F. Shelburn, 66, both residents of Lake Elsinore, were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, said Lake Elsinore police Sgt. Peter Giannakakos.
Three vehicles were stored or impounded for 30 days, and 20 unlicensed or suspended drivers were sent to court during the checkpoint at Grand and Lake, that began at 7 p.m. Friday and ended today at 2 a.m., Giannakakos said.
The police sergeant said 577 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, with 25 of those vehicles diverted for secondary screening.
