A pickup truck driver who allegedly struck and killed a motorcyclist in Riverside, then tried to elude police was being held today in lieu of $75,000 bail.
Gabriel Andres Brennan, 30, of Fullerton, was arrested about 8:30p.m. last night on suspicion of felony hit-and-run after a collision on Adams Street, according to Riverside police.
The suspect was backing his 1989 Mazda B2200 out of a driveway into the northbound lanes when he allegedly ran into a man on a 2004 Honda motorcycle, police said.
Brennan allegedly sped away from the scene, but authorities were immediately notified and began a search.
An officer spotted the pickup two miles away and arrested the suspect without incident, according to Sgt. Skip Showalter.
He said the motorcyclist, whose name was being withheld, was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital but died a short time later.
Brennan was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
